WETT inspections in Kitchener-Waterloo
WETT-certified inspections of wood stoves, fireplaces, and inserts in Kitchener, Waterloo, and the townships. Written report insurers accept, with clearances and chimney condition.
Kitchener and Waterloo have thousands of older homes with masonry fireplaces, and the townships around them have wood stoves, inserts, and outdoor furnaces on farm and country properties. When an insurer, a buyer, or a lender asks for a WETT inspection, they want a written report from a WETT-certified inspector. We provide that across Waterloo Region from our base in Puslinch.
City fireplaces and township stoves
In the older Kitchener and Waterloo neighbourhoods the appliance is usually an original masonry fireplace with a clay-tile liner, sometimes with an insert added later without a proper liner connection. In Wilmot, Wellesley, and Woolwich it is more often a freestanding stove installed by a previous owner, or an outdoor furnace feeding the house. Each has its own common faults, and the inspection is tailored to the appliance in front of us.
What the report covers
We measure clearances to combustibles, check floor protection, inspect the chimney and connector for condition, support, and sizing, look for creosote and heat damage, and confirm the cap and termination height against the installation code (CSA B365) and the manufacturer's instructions. The written report lists what passes, what needs correction, and what an insurer will want to see addressed.
How the wett inspection works
- Visual inspection of fireplaces, stoves, and inserts for condition, installation, and clearances.
- Chimney and venting evaluation for blockages, damage, and draft.
- Creosote and combustion assessment for fire hazards.
- Component and safety inspection, then a written report with recommendations.
