Well inspections in the Kitchener-Waterloo townships
Well inspections for rural Kitchener-Waterloo properties in Wilmot, Wellesley, and Woolwich: pump flow test, water sample, wellhead check, and a written report.
Rural Waterloo Region is well country. Farm properties and country lots around New Hamburg, Baden, Wellesley, St. Clements, Elmira, St. Jacobs, Conestogo, and Breslau all rely on private wells, and the Region itself draws most of its municipal water from the same aquifers. A well inspection tells a buyer whether this well produces enough, whether the system is sound, and whether the water is safe to drink.
Farm country and nitrate
Agricultural land around the townships means nitrate from fertilizer and livestock is the parameter to watch. We sample on-site for nitrate along with pH, hardness, iron, and alkalinity, and we supply a bottle for the free Public Health Ontario bacteria test. Shallow dug or bored wells are more exposed to surface contamination than deep drilled wells, and the inspection notes which type you are buying.
Pump, pressure system, and wellhead
We run the pump at its highest available flow to judge yield and recovery, inspect the pressure tank and switch for waterlogging and short-cycling, and look at the wellhead for casing height, a sealed vermin-proof cap, and grading that drains away. Treatment equipment such as softeners, iron filters, and UV units is inspected for condition and whether it is actually running. The written report explains the system and what to budget for.
How the well inspection works
- Locate the well and confirm accessibility.
- Pump test at the highest available flow rate using existing equipment.
- Assess the well area for contamination risks.
- Inspect filters, well tank, and treatment systems; sample for pH, hardness, iron, nitrate, and alkalinity.
