WETT inspections in Brantford and the County of Brant
WETT-certified inspections of wood stoves, fireplaces, and inserts in Brantford, Paris, St. George, Burford, and rural Brant County. Written report for insurance or real estate.
Brantford and Paris have older homes with masonry fireplaces, and rural Brant County has wood stoves, inserts, and outdoor furnaces heating farmhouses and country properties around St. George, Burford, Scotland, and Mount Pleasant. Insurers ask for a WETT inspection on most of them at purchase or policy change. We are WETT certified and cover Brant County from Puslinch.
Rural stoves and outdoor furnaces
Country properties in Brant often have a stove installed by a previous owner, sometimes in a basement or an addition, with clearances and floor protection that were never checked against the manufacturer's instructions. Outdoor wood furnaces are common and have their own venting and clearance rules. We measure and document each against the installation code (CSA B365) and explain what an insurer will want corrected.
City and village fireplaces
In Brantford and Paris the appliance is usually an original masonry fireplace, sometimes with a later insert. We inspect the liner, damper, firebox, hearth extension, and chimney exterior, and confirm cap and termination height. The written report lists what passes and what needs correction, with photographs.
How the wett inspection works
- Visual inspection of fireplaces, stoves, and inserts for condition, installation, and clearances.
- Chimney and venting evaluation for blockages, damage, and draft.
- Creosote and combustion assessment for fire hazards.
- Component and safety inspection, then a written report with recommendations.
